Susanne has extensive experience first as a biologist and environmental designer, and then as a mind-body practitioner and educator. Encouraged as a child to explore spiritual practices including yoga and meditation, Susanne integrates an energy-based approach with the scientific/medical model in her mind-body practice at Place of Peace in Wickford, RI. Working primarily with women, and with men referred by female clients and friends, Susanne's focus is on botanical and mind-body therapies to provide holistic, compassionate care.

She has practiced and taught aromatherapy for 18 years and massage therapy for 14 years. She directed Healing Touch Institute's School of Massage Therapy (MA) from 1998 to 2005, where she taught massage, anatomy and physiology, professionalism, stress reduction and aromatherapy. Susanne holds multiple bodywork Certificates & Certifications, including Holistic Massage Therapy; Polarity Realization Therapy; LaStone Therapy; Compassionate Touch; Medical Massage for the Cancer Patient; Reiki II Advanced, and Manual Lymphatic Drainage/Complete Decongestive Therapy.

Susanne studied with leading Aromatherapists, including John Steele (CA), Peter Holmes (CO & CA), Kurt Schnaubelt (CA)--International Certification, Valerie Ann Worwood (Fragrant Mind Workshop, Aroma-Genera Levels I, II, III & IV), at Rutgers University’s (NJ) Advanced Studies Program in Essential Oils and with Natural Perfumer, Mandy Aftel. As a Professional Aromatherapist, Susanne contributed to setting the US standards for education and practice of aromatherapy, while serving on the Council for Aromatherapy Schools and Educators (CASE) of the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA).

Susanne is Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCTMB) and is licensed by the state of Rhode Island as a Massage Therapist. She was Certified in Hypnotherapy through the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH). She was trained in Reiki by John Harvey Gray (who was taught by Mrs. Takata, the woman who brought Reiki from Japan to the Western world) and his wife, Lourdes Gray. Susanne completed a 132-hour training in MLD-CDT through the Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy.
